GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – The Gallia County Retired Teachers met at noon on April 13, 2017 at the Bossard Memorial Library in Gallipolis, Ohio.
The meeting was called to order by President Ollie Tipple. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Irene and Jim Clark and the blessing was given by Bob Powell. Thirty-seven members were in attendance and enjoyed a delicious homemade chicken and noodle dinner prepared by Ereca Armstrong.
March and April birthdays were recognized: Jean Cassidy (celebrating her 85th). A get well card was signed to be sent to Danny Cornell (husband to Karen Cornell and brother to Lois Carter). Also recognized was Barb Burnette, first time attendee.
Minutes from the February meeting were included in the last issue of The Slate. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Gail Belville and seconded by Irene Clark. Also Debbie Rhodes read a note from Marilyn Crouse Evans expressing her gratitude for the card that was sent to remember and honor her mother, Betty Crouse.
The Scholarship Committee reported that forms have been sent to the area high schools. A meeting will be held soon to determine the scholarship winners.
President Tipple introduced the guest speaker, Lynn Pauley, Adult Programming Associate at the library.
Lynn shared an up-to-date account of services and activities available at the library which included:
• Wi-Fi to Go: 20 Hotspots have been purchased and can be checked out. This aids with home schooling purposes and those who do not have internet in their homes. They are in the process of ordering 20 more units that will available soon.
• Book A Bike: This is a free program available to library card holders.

• Children’s Services…..Story time, Lapsit, and Dial a Story
• Adult Coloring Sessions
• Adult book club

The next meeting will be held Thursday, June 8th at the First Baptist Church. It will be a covered dish meal. The program will be honor the scholarship winners and newly Gallia County retired teachers from both the county and city school districts.
