GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – An escapee from the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office Work Release Center has been captured.
According to Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin, Michelle Myers, 42, was captured around 11:51 a.m. on March 24, 2017.
Sheriff Champlin said the public was instrumental in passing along tips as to the whereabouts of Myers following her escape from the Cheshire, Ohio facility.
From the information received, Gallia County Deputies flooded the area, according to Sheriff Champlin. Myers was located walking on State Route 554 in the Kyger area. “Ms. Myers has been transported to the Gallia County Jail for incarceration. Additional charges have been filed on Ms. Myers for her escape and we will see to it that Ms. Myers is held accountable for her actions.”
“This is another great example of how law enforcement and the public have been communicating and working together to solve crimes quickly and efficiently,” Sheriff Champlin said in a statement.

Myers was being held at the Gallia County Work Release Center on a Probation Violation for the City of Gallipolis. She was last seen wearing orange striped clothes at approximately 8:30 p.m. in Cheshire, Ohio. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Myers, please call the Gallia County 911 Center.
