Jackson, Ohio – The restaurant landscape in Jackson County is about to change in a big way with the announcement by Jamey and Jennifer Ratcliff of their newest restaurant, Arch & Eddie’s Gathering House, which will be located in the former Colonial Restaurant building in downtown Jackson.
The Ratcliffs are definitely not new to the casual dining business having owned and operated the Courtside Bar & Grill in Gallipolis for the last 13 years. When asked about the type of food he will serve at Arch & Eddie’s, Jamey responded, “ I think everyone will be excited by the variety of our menu. It’s going to be well rounded, classic American food that includes sandwiches, steaks, pastas, seafood and salads. Almost everything we offer will be made from scratch, using fresh ingredients, right here in our kitchen. We plan to use as many locally grown prod- ucts from local suppliers as we can find. In addition, we’re going to have several lunch and dinner specials on the menu each day that might range from home style, to Italian, to fresh seafood, to whatever else we think up. The daily specials allow us to be creative in the kitchen and give our customers an ever changing set of dining options. Most of our menu will fall into the $5.00 to $15.00 range”.
Jennifer addressed the topic of atmosphere at their new eatery. “It’s definitely going to be casual, very family friendly. One of the things we’re most proud of about Courtside is the fact that everyone feels welcome. It’s not uncommon to see a group of people in suits having a business meeting sitting next to a family with children in shorts, tee shirts and flip flops. We plan to create that same, all inclusive environment at Arch and Eddie’s. Every town needs a local gathering place where families can feel comfortable and have fun; where the menu is diverse and everyone can find something they like; where every customer who walks in the door knows there’s a better than average chance they will run into family members and friends. That will be what people can expect from Arch & Eddie’s”.
Jamey went on to say, “From a decorating perspective its going to feel warm and welcoming. Instead of using all tables we’re going with a combination of booths, tables and high tops. Something for everyone. We also have a large gathering room for meetings and banquets. I’m excited to see people’s reactions to the bar area. We’re in the process of giving it a pretty extensive cosmetic facelift. Our beer selection will include domestics, imports and the largest selection of craft brews in the area. Beer lovers will be able to select from bottles or 14 different draft choices. A specialty drink menu with classic cocktails and a varied wine list will also be offered.”
When asked what the keys to success have been in his restaurant career thus far, Jamey didn’t hesitate. “We’ve found success to be based on a simple formula. You have to serve great food, provide great service and do it all at surprisingly affordable prices. It sounds simple enough but it takes a lot of hard work by a team of deeply com- mitted people to make it happen. Most importantly, and we talk about this all the time, we truly appreciate our customers and feel an obligation to provide the absolute best dining experience possible each and every time someone walks through our door.”
Arch & Eddie’s will be located at 181 E. Main Street in Jackson. The Ratcliffs are working toward an early fall opening. You can follow their progress, including future employment opportunities, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/archandeddies
